What this preparation is for
Y2 is a systems ticket. The examiner works through the systems you are responsible for and expects you to describe construction, operation and maintenance without hedging.
This course takes those systems one at a time — steering and bow thrusters, pumping, oily water separation, firefighting equipment — teaches them properly and then questions you on them in oral format.
It is preparation for the MCA oral examination, which the MCA conducts and controls.

Preparation is structured around the published Y2 oral examination syllabus at Annex B of MSN 1859. The examiner can draw from any part of that syllabus.
