Batches start on the first Monday falling within the month. Two exceptions: the December 2026 batch starts Wednesday 25 November 2026 and the December 2027 batch starts Wednesday 24 November 2027.

What this preparation is for
Y1 is the senior yacht engineering ticket, and the oral reflects that. You are expected to talk about the transmission from the engine to the water, about how the plant is sensed and measured, and about what happens when the vessel comes out of the water.
This course prepares you across that scope at a technical depth appropriate to a senior yacht Chief Engineer, with examiner-style questioning throughout.
It is preparation for the MCA oral examination, which the MCA conducts and controls.
