What this preparation is for

UKLAP Grade 2 is the required level of UK legal and administrative knowledge for Chief Mates, Chief Engineers and Second Engineers serving on UK-flagged vessels, subject to the applicable MCA requirements.

There is no routine MCA UKLAP Grade 2 examination. The employer is responsible for ensuring that the officer has the required Grade 2 knowledge before joining the vessel.

This four-day course provides structured training against the published MCA UKLAP Grade 2 syllabus. It includes questioning and one internal World Yacht mock knowledge assessment to check understanding; that knowledge check is not an MCA examination.
